What happens when trash containers are left at the curb?

Trash containers should not be placed out prior to 7:00 pm on the day preceding the day of collection. Containers should be placed at the street or alley for collection by 7:00 am on regular collection days and removed before 7:00 am the following day. Containers must be stored between collection days no closer to the right-of-way (curb) than the principal structure line.  (Containers should be stored behind the front corner of the house.)

There are four Solid Waste Management Collections Inspectors; one handles the Northwest, one in Northeast, one in Southeast and one in Southwest. Containers not removed before 7:00 am the day after collection will be tagged for a container violation by a Code Inspector who will tape a “Notice of Violation” to the container.  After the 3rd tag a $25 fee will be imposed each time each can is still on the public right-of-way.  This process will continue up to a year that the first tag was placed.  After one year of the first tag, the process starts over.
